Join an online reading salon. Connect to a country that is much more than its politics.

Join a one-hour, live online literary salon hosted by an American who's spent decades living in Norway.

No advance reading required!

We hear so much about America through elections, headlines, and political commentary. But what about the ordinary, complicated lives behind those stories?

Join United Books of America for a live, small-group online literary salon. Through contemporary American fiction and memoir, we'll visit three states, glimpse other people's lives, and explore how stories can challenge what we think we know.

No advance reading required. No literary expertise needed. Come ready to listen, reflect, or join the conversation.

You might say United Books of America is like social activism through books.

Sign up with your email address to receive access to the 50-states book list and news about the project.

You’ll first be sent an email with a password for the book list page and later United Books of America news (typically once a month and never more than once a week, no spam and easy to unsubscribe!).

United Books of America started off during the crazy year of 2020 (remember that presidential election anyone??). This video needs an update but if you’re curious about who is behind the project, take a look.
